Bury, Rochdale & Oldham Group Sessions are Underway!

Posted 7th February 2023

Group sessions in Bury, Rochdale and Oldham are underway, young people have been making their way to their local House project base – Middleton or Bury and working hard in the group sessions. Young people have enjoyed getting to know one another and have been working side by side to complete activities and games for the first few sessions so far.

Both groups attempted to battle it out for the highest spaghetti and marshmallow towers working on strength and stability in small teams to win! Young people joined in with some ice breaker activities such as fruit salad, human bingo, and the crate challenge, this helped everyone get to know one another and start to build some positive friendships within the groups- particularly the pool tournaments the young people have set up for themselves.

Each group have completed their group agreements working together to decide what they feel will ensure they can work together safely and successfully.  After lots of discussion and listening with careful consideration of one another, the young people made their final agreements!

Last week both groups enjoyed cook and share sessions. Bury group discussed something quick but tasty to make and decided they would make a stir fry, after a quick group trip to Tesco for the ingredients the cooking was underway! All young people worked together when cooking and sat down with the facilitators and enjoyed the tasty stir fry together.

Bury Cook & Share session

The Middleton group were shown some ingredients and we discussed what we could make using them, young people decided that they would make a vegetarian chili con carne and garlic bread.  Young people shared the responsibility of chopping, stirring, serving and cleaning and produced a delicious chilli. (Although one young person referred to the rice as ‘gruel’) Some of the young people looked at budgeting and price comparison for their ingredients – well done Asda for being the cheapest!

Well done to both groups for really working hard to get to know each other, building friendships and working so well as a Team- and making some Tasty meals along the way!
